Centrefire TELEFLY Telescopic Fly Rod
Simms Freestone Vest
After more than 40 years of fly fishing, Selwyn Shanks (owner of Centrefire McCarthy’s Stream & Field Store in Dunedin) was frustrated by the lack of
a convenient telescopic fly-rod that offered a decent action. Last year Centrefire had one made, and after 12 months trial in the field they are sure they have a winner.

The TELEFLY has been used by beginners through to experienced anglers, including guides and their clients.

The 9' #6-weight telescopes into a 27" rod tube, completely rigged with one or two flies. The tube can be carried on your belt, over your shoulder, attached to your pack, canoe, bike and so on. It is a hit with travellers, being compact enough to fit into a range of travel bags.

The rod is made of high modulus graphite and has quality fittings. It can easily cast 60–70 feet of line and has the power to play big fish. The action is good enough to see many use the TELEFLY as their main rod. The ability to pull the rod out of its tube and be ready to cast within a minute is something that can not be done with a multi-piece rod.

Accidents do happen, so to keep anglers fishing a spare tip and tip ring is included in an alloy tube inside the rod tube. The innovative design allows this to be fitted in the field. The only tip broken during 12 months of testing happened when the rod was poked into a tree!

At NZ$300, which includes postage within Australia and New Zealand, the TELEFLY is the answer for quality and convenience.
