Hook tension is applied by a lever which now acts on hardened balls, eliminating wear. The rotary shaft is hinged—allowing the jaw height (and the hook shaft height) to be easily adjusted. This feature was previously only available on the top of the range ‘Master Vise’, more than double the price of this model. The entire vice head can also be pivoted on the vice stem, making it easy to adjust to gain comfortable access to the smallest of flies. The crank arm is ratcheted, allowing indented rotation of your flies—perfect for tying-in legs at the right angle. Perhaps the most notable feature is the ability to adjust the vice for left or right hand use. I have occasionally come across left-handed fly tiers (try teaching a whip finish to a left hander!) who were frustrated with the right-handed vices on the market. Well, lament no more—this model is relatively easy to change with just a few common tools. Tying with the Presentation Cam 2000, as you would expect, is a pleasant experience and it’s no surprise to me that it holds hooks securely, operates flawlessly and assists the owner to become a better tier. The matt finish on the vice head is a nice touch—the jaws have a mil-spec, anticorrosion coating and are made from hardened tool steel, all other components are anodized aluminium except for the shaft stem, which is stainless steel. I always recommend that budding tiers buy the best tools they can afford. With Renzetti vices, it’s a one-off purchase that will pay you back every time you tie a fly. The Presentation Cam 2000 offers versatility in a true rotary vice of the highest quality. RRP is $589.95—check them out at your nearest Renzetti stockist.
