INNOVATIVE WET BAG

Chris Beech stays out of trouble with a new bag from Mayfly Tackle.

The guys at Mayfly have been working on a Wet Bag in which to store waders, raincoats or anything else that gets wet —including fish! The bag has a 45 litre capacity, which is more than adequate for my wading boots and chest waders, and is the ideal solution for segregating your wet gear, or for keeping the back of your car clean and dry. In some cases there is the added benefit of ensuring marital harmony as a result.

The base of the bag is constructed from PVC impregnated 1200 denier nylon, with reinforcing straps, which extends 155 mm from the base, effectively creating a ‘bucket’ to catch any water run off. The bag is shaped such that when filled it will stand upright, preventing any spills, as long as you pack the heaviest items—like boots—first.

The upper part of the bag is made from PVC impregnated mesh on the outer and sides, which allows anything within it to breathe. The other side is constructed of 1200 denier nylon cloth complete with adjustable backpack straps, so you can hike your waders to and from your fishing location. This allows the angler to have both hands free for carrying other gear, or climbing. There is also a drawstring neck to secure anything contained within, and an external pocket to store items such as a wader repair kit and spare boot laces.

If you forget to unpack your waders at the end of the day, the mesh outer and sides allows them to breathe and dry, reducing the risk of mildew forming and spoiling your gear.

This is a very handy item, particularly for anglers who hike or travel from location to location. A well designed product made from quality materials with a recommended retail price of only $29.95, this is sure to be a popular choice as a Christmas gift.
