Zigga Fly Boxes started out as a simple design concept and have now evolved into a sophisticated and innovative modular fly storage system. The Zigga system comprises individual bands or clips that fit into, and are interchangeable between, various sizes of fly boxes and display cabinets—and they’re designed and manufactured in Melbourne.

It’s this clever notion of being able to pre-load clips with ‘dries for small streams’ or ‘flies for early season tailers’ and quickly purpose-build a couple of  boxes for a specific trip that sets the Zigga system apart from a traditional fly box.

There’s a choice between foam clips which are made from a durable corrosion-resistant steel base and elastic foam upper, and coil-spring clips that allow maximum air circulation and fly spacing flexibility. All clips are fully interchangeable with all Zigga fly boxes and packs of clips can be purchased separately.

The various metal boxes are all beautifully made with smooth curves and a durable anodized finish. They rejuvenate and improve upon the traditional metal fly box. The Liberty Flybox is the largest in the range and features a transparent lid that is both UV and scratch resistant. This elegant fly box measures 150 x 100 x 24 mm and costs around $110 with 4 clips included. The smaller boxes include a lightweight (23 gram) Pocket Flybox that measures only 100 x 66 x 22 mm and another slightly larger Ultra Light design that holds clips in both the upper and lower halves, effectively doubling fly capacity.
