REAL KORKERS
Rob Sloane slips into a versatile style of wading boot.

This week the muddy shores of Lake Eucumbene, next week the slippery rocks in a South Island stream. Wading boots to suit your new stocking foot waders can pose a real dilemma. Problem solved with Korkers Konvertible Wetlands Wading Boot. These nifty boots feature an interchangeable sole system, which allows you to choose up to six different sole configurations.

Mine came with a plain felt sole, ideal for those slippery streams, and a trail lug sole, ideal for those muddy shores. Other options include spiked felt, spiked rubber boat sole and aquastealth, depending on whether you will be toe tapping or boot skooting.

It’s a great idea, and it works. Change over is easy, the soles stay put thanks to locking points at the toe, side and heel strap. The boots are comfortable, not too heavy and drain and dry faster than others I have used. Features include synthetic leather uppers, padded collar, nylon mesh sidewalls, double stitching, speed lacing and durable rubber toe/heel guard for protection.

All in all, a fancy pair of boots, ideal for those who combine river and lake fishing on a regular basis, or who trek for mile after mile before wading a stream.

RRP $240. Korker Konvertibles are distributed by Mayfly Tackle 03 9899 0034.
