VICTORIAN FLY WATER
Rob Sloane evaluates Phil Weigall’s fly fishing guide to Victoria

The latest offering from well known Victorian FlyLife contributor Philip Weigall is a departure from his recent fly fishing books.

Victorian Fly Water is a dead set ‘where to’ book, full of places to go and things to do with a fly rod. Published by Australian Fishing Network, it is full of detailed area maps (25 in all) which make the book self-sufficient in terms of finding your way around.

The book divides Victorian trout waters into 9 convenient districts, then into lakes and streams, and lists waters alphabetically in each section.

Brief but informative notes on each water are supplemented by a map reference and a table detailing recent stocking history (99-02).

The 112 page book is a convenient, transportable size, nice and flexible, with a waterproof plastic cover. Apart from the obvious glitch on the Contents page, the book is well produced, in full colour. Photographs, in the main, are nicely reproduced and informative. All in all, a neat little guide book, and well worth $29.95.
